Chef/owner Philip Aviles offers a menu of new Southwestern cuisine,
pairing flavors and cooking styles of the Southwestern kitchen with fresh, local New England ingredients. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Aviles hails from American Bounty on Nantucket (where he received Three Stars from AAA) Peacock Alley at The Waldorf Astoria in New York City,
bringing to Masa the talent and background that has made the restaurant one of Boston's finest.
Since its opening in December 1999, Masa has received praise from both press and patrons alike.
Mat Schaffer of the Boston Herald says, "Aviles' Masa is A-maize-ing," and awarded Masa Three Stars. Alison Arnett of The Boston Globe praised Masa, calling it "A Southwestern Air of Sophistication."
