For the past three years Ashmont Grill has brought a cup-full of culinary cheer to Peabody Square, at the southern end of Dorchester Avenue, with its wallet-friendly menu of "modern tavern fare" from grass-fed beef burgers to fresh fish specials, to down-home desserts like the signature Brownie Sundae.
Its welcoming atmosphere of light, art, cocktails and conviviality has garnered fans from the neighborhood and beyond. Chef-Owner Chris Douglass lives nearby and has obviously identified - and successfully filled - a need.
The clientele at Ashmont Grill is as diverse as the menu, and there is no better place in Dorchester to enjoy a warm weather repast than its landscaped urban garden. The Monday Night Wine Club attracts a large crowd weekly to its communal tables of small plates served with wine and a touch of knowledge.
